Algae grows whenever conditions are ideal for its survival. When you have an algae problem, there are several ways to attack it. Kill it, clean it, or prevent it. We find that prevention goes a long way. Algae grows whenever there is a food source for it along with photosynthesis.
Using any HydroClear™ beneficial bacteria product will break down organics that would otherwise feed algae. Fish waste and other organics if left in the pond unchecked will feed algae. So the best way to prevent algae is to remove its food sources. Keep your mechanical filtration clean on a regular basis, and backwash your bio filtration regularly as well.
You can control the amount of photosynthesis in your pond with HydroClear™ Hydro Shade™ Blue Pond Tint. Dye your pond water a shade of blue to reduce submerged algae growth and also give your beloved fish some shade, and obscurity from predators.
