About Russell Watergardens
Helping People Build Better Ponds and Water Features Since 1997
Russell Watergardens is a family-owned designer, manufacturer and online retailer of specialized equipment for water garden ecosystem ponds, koi ponds, Hybrid ponds™, pondless waterfalls, fountains and water features.
But equipment is only part of what we do.
For nearly 30 years, we've helped homeowners, do-it-yourselfers and professional contractors understand how water features work, choose the right equipment and build systems that are practical to own and maintain.
Today, we serve customers throughout the United States from our Arizona operation, combining our own innovative products with carefully selected pond and water-feature equipment, supplies and educational resources.
And we're still guided by the same principle that has shaped Russell Watergardens for decades:
Design for the people who own them.
We Started by Building Ponds
Russell Watergardens didn't begin behind a desk or with a product catalog.
We began in the field.
We designed, installed and maintained ponds and water features throughout the Seattle area before opening our three-acre retail water-garden center in Redmond, Washington.
There, dozens of operating ponds and water features became places to demonstrate, teach, experiment and learn.
Years of building and maintaining water features—and talking directly with the people who owned them—eventually led us to begin developing equipment and complete systems of our own.
We Design Products to Solve Real Problems
Many Russell Watergardens products began with a question we heard from customers—or asked ourselves.
Why is this so difficult to clean?
Where does the debris go?
Why is the pump so difficult to reach?
Why does installation require specialized tools?
Can this be made simpler?
Those questions have led to products including Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filters, HydroClean™ pond skimmers, HydroSieve™ pre-filters, HydroChamber™ pump and water-storage chambers, HydroBead Vortex™ koi pond filters, HydroFlush™ backwash systems and other specialized equipment.
They've also led us to rethink entire pond and water-feature systems.
Today, Russell Watergardens offers solutions for Water Garden Ponds, Hybrid Ponds™, dedicated Koi Ponds, CrossOver Ponds™, Bubble-Less Koi Ponds™, HydroPure™ Filtered Pondless Systems, and pre-filtered pondless fountains and water features.
Different applications require different solutions.
We don't believe every pond or water feature should be built the same way.
Easy to Install. Easy to Maintain. Designed to Last.
When we evaluate or design equipment, we think beyond the day it's installed.
We think about the years that follow.
Can you reach the equipment?
Can accumulated debris be removed?
Can routine maintenance be performed without dismantling the water feature?
Can a homeowner understand how the system works?
Can components be serviced when necessary?
Those considerations influence everything from the materials we use to the way our systems are configured.
Because the purchase price is only one part of what a pond or water feature ultimately costs.
Good design can make ownership easier, too.
More Choices for the Water Feature You Want
We don't think your design should be dictated by a box of predetermined components.
That's why many Russell Watergardens systems are customizable.
Whether you're creating a small pondless waterfall, a decorative fountain, a natural water garden, a Hybrid Pond™ or a dedicated koi pond, we want the equipment to support the water feature you're trying to build—not force your project into a single predetermined design.
That means more choices in size, pumps, filtration, plumbing and system configuration.
Your water feature should fit your property, your goals and the way you want to enjoy it.
Professional Equipment. Available to Homeowners.
One principle has stayed with us since the days of our Redmond store:
Homeowners deserve access to professional-quality equipment and good information.
You shouldn't need to be a professional pond contractor to understand what you're buying.
That's why we provide detailed product information, installation instructions, educational articles, videos, calculations and direct assistance to help customers make informed decisions.
If you're building it yourself, we'll help you understand the process.
If you're a professional installer, we'll help you specify the appropriate equipment.
And if you're replacing or upgrading an existing system, we'll help you determine what makes sense for your application.
Real People Are Here to Help
Russell Watergardens isn't simply a website filled with products.
When you contact us, you're contacting people who understand ponds and water features.
We help customers with equipment selection, system design, sizing, installation questions, troubleshooting and maintenance.
Sometimes that means helping you choose a product.
Sometimes it means explaining why a particular product isn't the right choice.
We believe good customer service starts with good information.
And we'd rather help you make the right decision the first time.
Everything You Need to Build and Maintain Your Water Feature
In addition to the products we design and manufacture, Russell Watergardens offers equipment and supplies for building, maintaining and upgrading ponds and water features.
You'll find pond and koi filtration, skimmers and pre-filters, pumps, UV clarifiers, aeration, EPDM pond liner and installation supplies, water treatments, algae-control products, koi and goldfish foods, and complete pond and pondless kits.
We ship year-round from Arizona to customers across the United States.
More Than a Product Company
After nearly three decades in the water-feature industry, we've learned that the best products don't begin with a sales pitch.
They begin with a problem worth solving.
That's why we continue to test ideas, question conventional approaches and develop equipment around what happens after the sale.
How will you install it?
How will you clean it?
How will you maintain it?
And most importantly:
What will it be like to own?
That's the perspective behind Russell Watergardens.
