Nitrifying pond bacteria is a critical component to all biological pond filters. Without nitrifying pond bacteria, a biological filter is not “biological”. A biological filter is essential for maintaining a healthy ecosystem to support fish and other aquatic life. Fish and aquatic life release ammonia into the water that is toxic to the fish.
The nitrification cycle is the conversion of ammonia to nitrite, and then nitrite to nitrate with specific bacteria. Nitrification Cycle™ Nitrifying Pond Bacteria contains those specific bacteria.

Nitrification Cycle™
Converts Toxic Ammonia into Non-toxic NitrateThe Nitrification Cycle is the conversion of toxic ammonia into non-toxic nitrate. Fish and other aquatic life release ammonia into the pond water. Ammonia in the pond water becomes toxic to the fish and other aquatic life.
Fish release ammonia into the water through their urine, feces, and gills. Ammonia is extremely toxic to fish and must be removed from the aquaculture system via the “Nitrification Cycle”.
Inside your biological filter, Nitrosomonas bacteria convert toxic ammonia to toxic nitrite. Nitrobacter and Nitrospira bacteria then convert the toxic nitrite to non-toxic nitrate – this is known as the “Nitrification Cycle”.
Ammonia burns fish gills. Burned gills develop scar tissue. Scar tissue on the gills reduces the respiratory efficiency of the gills. This leads to multiple problems for your fish. Sickness and death with follow if the ammonia remains in the pond water.
HydroClear™ Nitrification Cycle™ is an advanced proprietary blend of Nitrosomonas, Nitrobacter and Nitrospira chemotrophic microbes.
No other strains of bacteria perform the nitrification cycle as efficiently as Nitrosomonas, Nitrobacter, and Nitrospira.
