The HydroSieve™ traps debris for easy removal, and the HydroChamber™ replaces basin underlayment, basin liner, a slotted pump vault, two water matrix blocks, and hundreds of pounds of rock and gravel.
As you can see from this photo, both units are modular. This lets you install them together ..... or apart from each other. You can have them at the base of your small pondless waterfalls, or moved away. They simply connect to standard 4" PVC or ABS piping with rubber couplers. Ultimate Small Pondless Waterfall Kits are
Different … to be Better
When your Ultimate small pondless waterfall and pool kit is ON and running, water is pumped out of the HydroChamber™. Water is pumped into the vortex section of the patented Ahi Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter. The water then rises up through the media chamber containing Hydro FilterSilk™ bio media. The bio media “polishes” the water while biologically processing dissolved organics from the water.
The water then exits the waterfall opening at the top of the Ahi Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter. Rubber liner is attached to the filter with a water tight liner gasket flange. Water cascades over the boulders or cut stone to create the waterfalls.
After the waterfalls the water then “disappears” into a 4″ pipe hidden within boulders, or directly into the inlet pipe of HydroSieve™-PF pre-filter. The stainless steel sieve filter inside the HydroSieve™ stains debris from the water. Strained water then passes out of the bottom of the HydroSieve™-PF pre-filter back into the HydroChamber™ to repeat the process.
When the small pondless waterfall kit is in the OFF mode the water is stored inside the HydroChamber™. Because of the check valve, the Ahi Hydro Vortex filter remains full of water as well.
In the OFF mode, the small pondless waterfall kit has no visible, or standing water. This is where the term “pondless” comes from.
For winterizing the small pondless waterfall kit, simply open the drain valve that is included with the Ahi Hydro Vortex™ filter while the pump is running. The pump will pump all the water out of the tank and out the filter’s drain pipe. If using a submersible pump, simply open the cam lock assembly of the check valve and remove the pump from the HydroChamber™. If using an external pump, open the primer pot and volute drains to purge water. In both cases, leave the Ahi Hydro Vortex™ filter drain valve open to purge rainwater or snow melt.
You have your choice of backwashing methods of the patented Ahi Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter included with your small pondless waterfall kit.

Either way, it is SUPER easy!
To manually backwash the Ahi Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter:
- 1. Turn your pump off
- 2. Open the filter drain valve and let the filter completely drain
- 3. Using a garden hose, flush water down through the top of the filter
- 4. When the water exiting the drain runs clear – you’re done!
- 5. Close the filter drain
- 6. Turn your pump back on
Please note, you will need to replace the water that was drained from the filter during backwashing. If you have an Auto Fill Valve Kit installed inside the HydroChamber™, it will do it for you. If you don’t, simply add water with a hose while your pump is running. Fill the water up to the Auto Fill Valve port inside the HydroChamber™.
HydroFlush™ Self Cleaning Backwash System
The absolute EASIEST way to backwash and clean the
Ahi Hydro Vortex waterfall filter!
To HydroFlush™ Your Hydro Vortex™ Filter:
- 1. Turn your pump off
- 2. Open the filter drain valve and let the filter completely drain
- 3. Turn the HydroFlush™ valve to the backwash position
- 4. Turn your pump back on (water will shoot upwards then fall back down into and through the filter)
- 5. When the water exiting the drain runs clear – your done!
- 6. Close the filter drain valve
- 7. Return the HydroFlush™ valve to the filter position
As noted above with the manual backwash, you will need to replace the water that was drained from the filter during backwashing. If you have an Auto Fill Valve Kit, it will do it for you. If you don’t, simply add water with a hose while your pump is running. Fill the water up to the Auto Fill Valve port inside the HydroChamber™.

Ultimate pondless Waterfall
1. Keep your pump running and use an ordinary garden hose to rinse leaves, debris, and sediment downstream from the waterfalls and/or stream into the Hydro Sieve™ pre-filter for easy removal.
No need to remove the pump when cleaning and maintaining an Ultimate pondless waterfall. Removing the pump is only necessary for winterizing the pondless waterfall.
2. Turn off your pump and remove the stainless steel filter basket from the Hydro Sieve™ pre-filter.
Open the Hydro Sieve™ pre-filter by lifting off the lid to expose the internal stainless steel filter basket.
Grab the handle which is well above the water line to remove the basket. Empty the basket, hose it out, and then put it back inside the Hydro Sieve™ pre-filter.
3. Open the drain valve at the bottom and backside of the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter and let it completely drain. You will notice dirty water draining from the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter.
Every model of Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter comes complete with a drain, drain pipe, and a drain valve for easy cleaning and backwashing.
4. Backwash the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter either manually, or with the HydroFlush™ Backwash System.
Manual Backwash: Using an ordinary garden hose, rinse the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter from top down with fresh water. No need to disassemble a Hydro Vortex™ filter for cleaning.
Rinse water through the Hydro FilterSilk™ bio media inside the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter until the water flowing out the drain runs clear. When the water runs clear, the filter and bio media are clean. Close the drain valve and restart your pump and waterfalls.
HydroFlush™ Backwash System: With the filter's drain valve open, turn the HydroFlush™ valve to the "Backwash" position. Turn on the pump to send water through the froth-port at the top of the Hydro Vortex™ filter. The water will shoot upwards and then fall back down onto, into, and through the Hydro FilterSilk™ media inside the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter. When the water exiting the drain at the bottom of the filter runs clear, the filter and bio media are clean. Close the drain valve, and turn the HydroFlush™ valve back to the "Filter" position.
5. When water exiting the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter's drain is clear, the filter and bio media are clean. Close the drain valve.
6. Turn on your pump and enjoy your clean and pristine pondless waterfalls.
If you opted for an automatic water fill float-valve, the valve will automatically re-fill the pondless waterfall inside the Hydro Chamber™ for you. Or, you can add water with a garden hose to replace the small amount of water that was used to backwash the Hydro Vortex™ waterfall filter.
That's it! You're done!
No fuss, and no mess.
